The boxing universe is filled with paramount talent and sublime stalwarts in every division. However, out of all the dynamic divisions, one roster that separates itself from the rest is the lightweight division. This is predominantly because the 135-pound division has some exuberant talents like Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Gervonta Davis.
Many boxing fans also refer to these pugilists as the four kings of the current boxing world.
However, the Top Rank boss, Bob Arum, doesn’t feel the same. He said, “Don’t mention them in the same breath as those four greats. These guys might one day be great, right now I look at them as wannabes… Anybody who says any are greats now doesn’t understand the history of boxing.”

Bob Arum on today's lightweights being compared to the Four Kings: "Don't mention them in the same breath as those four greats. These guys might one day be great, right now I look at them as wannabes… Anybody who says any are greats now doesn't understand the history of boxing."

In the retro boxing era, ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, and Roberto Duran got cited among the four kings of boxing. These boxers had immense respect, and they’re still considered among the best to step inside the squared circle.
That said, even Bob Arum holds mammoth admiration for these boxers. And he certainly feels that there’s no comparison between today’s lightweight stars and the four kings.
Lopez, Garcia, Haney, and Davis are all undefeated stalwarts, who’re going super strong with their boxing run. However, per Arum, it seems that they got a long way to go.
Will Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Gervonta Davis walk down as sheer legends of the game?
