Religion has played a key role in his life, especially during a dark period of his life. So, when DJ Whoo Kid made a comment about the Pope, Tyson had some words for his co-host.

In the latest episode of Mike’s podcast, ‘Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, Mike invited Andrew Huberman. Huberman is a Neuroscience Professor and Researcher who studies, explores, and educates people on everything that is brain-related. So, Mike’s co-host decided to ask him about the Pope, which came across as disrespectful to Mike. In response, Mike went off on his co-host, calling out his disrespectful remarks. But what did DJ Whoo Kid say that affected Mike?

Mike Tyson stops DJ Whoo Kid in his tracks

Nearing the end of the podcast, DJ Whoo Kid raised a question to Huberman. He wanted to know Huberman’s opinion about the Vatican and the Church going against science to control people. He said, “When you see like the Vatican or the Church, they go against science. But they use science to control the masses, like you know.” While Huberman started to answer the question, Mike jumped into the conversation. He interjected and said, “You are talking about the pope now. You are disrespecting the Pope now.”

DJ Whoo kid was caught off-guard by Mike’s response and said, “I don’t know that, homie.” Mike quickly released the tension and said, “Hey, listen, he’s a good person.” Not sure what to say, DJ Whoo kid replied, “You know everybody, Mike.” Having said that, how serious is Mike about following his religion?

Mike Tyson to Malik Abdul Aziz

Mike’s conversion to Islam was a long-drawn process, which began before he went to jail. His Muslim name happens to be Malik Abdul Aziz. However, it was his time in jail when he converted to Islam. Back in 2022, Mike appeared in the Full Send Podcast, where he shed light on his religious beliefs. Mike was asked if he was religious and if he observed the customs and rituals. Mike had an answer ready at hand.

According to Mike, he respects various religions, but he is a Muslim. Mike further added that he prays a lot, and when he dies, he wants to die as a Muslim. Answering whether he observes all the customs and rituals, Mike said he is a lazy Muslim. He doesn’t have the time for the customs because he wants to spend time with his family. Mike added that even though he is not working for money, he can’t help it. So work also takes over his time.
