Former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs earned his nickname of ‘The Miracle Man’ after beating a rare form of bone cancer a few years back. The deadly disease had almost ended Jacob’s hopes of continuing himself in the sport. However, he came back from the adversary, and now he’s resurrecting himself for the title race.

Jacobs made his professional debut in 2007 and has been thoroughly active since then. He hasn’t missed out on appearing in any year in between, except for 2021. That said, his active record of 39-3 has seen him lose in some of the biggest nights of his career against Dmitry Pirog, Canelo Alvarez, and Gennady Golovkin.

Nevertheless, Jacobs’ biggest fight has arguably been the one outside the ring. According to reports, Daniel Jacobs was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer. An MRI report suggested that Jacobs ‘spine was wrapped with the deadly tumor, which he had to eradicate with a crucial surgery. Standing in 2022, ‘The Miracle Man’ looked back at those days and has recently shared some sheer moments of highs and lows from his career on social media.

Daniel Jacobs wrote, “10 year challenge. Anything is possible when u believe and apply.”

Umpteen boxers like WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas, Laila Ali, Dennis Douglin, and several others showered their words of praise for Jacobs in the comments section. That said, Jacobs is back to the combat action and is aiming to impose his dominance in the 168 lbs unit.

After losing to Canelo Alvarez, Jacobs returned in the same year and outworked Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He then vanquished Gabriel Rosado in 2020 as a super middleweight contender. ‘The Miracle Man’ now seems ready to face John Ryder on his next outing.

Daniel Jacobs is now a super middleweight force

After vanquishing Rosado at 168 lbs, John Ryder shall be Jacobs’ next test. Meanwhile, Jacobs’ former nemesis Canelo Alvarez is currently holding all four belts in the super middleweight division. Hence, Jacobs may get another shot at the P4P phenomenon somewhere down the line. Although Alvarez may shift to a different weight class, Daniel Jacobs can still envision himself re-matching the Mexican star.

Apart from Alvarez, several elites are currently residing in the super middleweight division. Henceforth, 34-year-old Jacobs can still come across some big matchups. And on winning a few of them, he can get another shot at the world title shortly.
