Last Friday, Oscar Valdez locked horns with Robson Conceicao for his WBC super-featherweight title defense. The Mexican boxing star was already in the news for consuming a banned substance, and he received immense backlash for the same. But despite all the adversities, Valdez edged over his nemesis to claim a unanimous decision victory. However, this win didn’t come easily as he had to dig in real deep to retain his WBC strap.
All three judges scored in favor of the champ, but Stephen Blea’s scorecard did rounds on social media. He gave Valdez a 117-110 win, and the fans seemed stunned with this vast difference.

The other two judges of this fight, Omar Mintum, and Chris Tellez, scored 115-112 to give Valdez a win in this fight. But Blea’s scorecard created a vast difference, and many purists felt Conceicao deserved more for his efforts.
That said, Blea, in his above statement, shared an honest notion and figured his mistake out right away.
Conceicao, being the underdog, gave a stern beating to the champ. He remained highly successful in landing his extensive hooks and body shots. As a result, this turned out to be one of the toughest tests for Oscar Valdez at the super-featherweight frame.
