Bad news seems to be following the Dominican Republic’s Edwin De Los Santos! In a tragic twist, his boxer brother, José Luis De Los Santos, and a few others met with a gruesome accident last night that left two dead and the rest injured! Edwin is coming off a loss against Shakur Stevenson in a fight that was labeled one of the most boring fights in the history of boxing.

The bout held in November last year saw one of the least amount of punches thrown! Stevenson, the more favored of the two, took most of the criticism because the undefeated pugilist cowered and ran away, trying to avoid engagement with De Los Santos. However, more than two months after the fight, De Los Santos had to receive more bad news.

Today, an X user who goes by Broadway Joel and claims he is the voice of Dominican boxing broke the news on the platform. His tweet read, “Members [of] the National Dominican Boxing team were traveling from San Cristobal to Santo Domingo and got into a car accident.” He further revealed that the Central American Gold Medalist, Cristian Pinales, and José Luis De Los Santos, Edwin’s brother, were in the car.

“De Los Santos came out relatively unscathed, but Pinales, who was driving, had several abrasions to his face and neck, some of which required stitches,” he continued. Moreover, Joel claimed one of the assistant trainers broke his arm, and two other people sadly passed away in the accident. Joel even shared a picture of Pinales, showcasing the abrasions on his face and neck. While Edwin tackles the tragic news, his last opponent might be starting a feud with a British boxer.

Moreover, Edwin De Los Santos currently holds a 16-2 professional record with his only two losses coming from Stevenson and William Foster III back in January 2022. As for when and who De Los Santos would fight next, there are no updates in that regard. However, there have been talks of a rematch with Jose Valenzuela.

One take at a time

The first time boxing captured my attention, it was because of a line I heard in the film 'Rocky Balboa', a film surrounding boxing. The line went like this, "But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
