Boxing Promoter Who Cheated Mike Tyson Out of $100 Million Hospitalized

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was the biggest name in the world of boxing during his heyday. Popularly known as ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, Tyson was the most feared and successful boxer at the time. But one person was pivotal in Tyson’s development into the athlete that he was.

Veteran boxing promoter Don King had a big role in the 1990s to popularize the sport of boxing. He was Mike Tyson’s promoter for a long period of time, but later, the two separated and have been enemies since then.

Apparently, ’Iron Mike’ had sued Don King for cheating him with a massive $100 million in 1998. Although Tyson won the case, he received only $14 million as settlement money. Nevertheless, it has been recently revealed that King is in a fragile condition and is admitted to the hospital. 

Update on Don King’s health

Back in the day, the veteran promoter was the most well-known in his field and promoted iconic boxers like Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes, and many more. King is 91 years old now and is reportedly facing some health problems. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar was recently in conversation with FightHype, where he shed some light on King’s health.

While talking about King’s health, the WBC president stated, “Don King was scheduled to travel today, he had some complications and unfortunately, he could not travel. It’s some swelling and some back problems. So our prayers were done, we love him he’s a great legendary promoter, a member of the boxing community. His whole team is here, but I spoke to him today he was a little bit down and we are going to keep monitoring. And hopefully, he will be fine, no, it is not life-threatening. But he could not travel, he was banned from traveling.”

Several fighters have accused King of owing them their fair part of the proceeds. He served some time in prison before rising to the position of a top boxing promoter. He has experienced numerous things in his life, including having a gun pointed directly at him. Also, he has persevered despite everything, and Mauricio confirmed that his condition is not life-threatening, and hoped that he will be fine soon.
