Is Jake Paul one of the best cruiserweights in boxing right now? Is he on the same level as Jai Opetaia or Mairis Briedis? Well, according to BoxRec, Jake Paul deserves a spot in the top 15 in the US-specific list. ‘The Problem Child’ Paul is coming off a spectacular win over Ryan Bourland in his last fight in Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot arena in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

And before that, he had a similar showing against Andre August, whom Paul dismantled in the very first round with a knockout like Bourland. However, his resume isn’t as pristine as he might have wanted. Back in February last year, Paul took on Tommy Fury and suffered his first career loss. Moreover, boxing fans have criticized him for taking easy unknown opponents for the longest time. Despite that, BoxRec saw Paul worthy of the Top 15, something Happy Punch revealed on X today!

Jake Paul joins the elites

Unlike most boxers in the cruiserweight division, Jake Paul’s record stands out quite a bit. Where normal boxers have to fight their way through countless opponents in the division, Paul began his career by fighting influencers. Then, Paul moved on to fighting MMA guys who lacked the experience of a boxer, which resulted in a huge payday for them and a win for Paul.

When Paul started fighting boxers, even the pundits of the sport had to research Paul’s opponent to learn who they were.  However, none of that seems to have phased BoxRec because Happy Punch revealed, “Jake Paul is now a top 15 cruiserweight in the United States on BoxRec.” BoxRec might think Paul deserves the top 15, but this former UFC champion has other ideas.

Former UFC middleweight champion expresses frustration

Following Paul’s latest win, Michael Bisping sprang into action on his YouTube channel to blast Paul for what he is doing to the sport of boxing. And Bisping didn’t like the idea that Paul decided to call out boxing legend Canelo Alvarez during the post-fight interview. In his rant, Bisping said, “You are the suckers if you paid for the fight, and I know most people didn’t…”

However, he wasn’t done! Bisping continued, “He’s [Jake Paul] calling out Canelo [Alvarez] because he knows damn well that fight is not going to happen…He is disrespecting the sport of boxing, he’s disrespecting all the people [who] worked their way up, but more importantly, he’s conning the fans…Beating people you know you can beat, that’s called being a bully.”
