Of course, nothing’s been confirmed yet, but that hasn’t stopped the boxing world from dreaming about a sequel. Among those joining the conversation is ring girl Alyshia Barragan, who recently sent a personal message to Canelo Alvarez — along with her bold prediction for how a rematch against Terence Crawford might unfold.

Canelo Alvarez now knows what to do
Speaking to Elie Seckbach of ES News during the final weigh-ins for the Andres Cortes vs. Derlyn Hernandez-Geraldo event, promoted by DMG Boxing on October 18 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, Barragan was joined by fellow ring girl Alannah Keyser. Seckbach, a well-known Canelo superfan, couldn’t resist asking Barragan if she had a message for the Mexican boxing legend.
“Canelo, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that you lost, but it had to happen,” Barragan said. When Seckbach brought up Canelo’s legendary status despite the loss, Barragan didn’t hesitate to agree. “Yeah, he’s still super cool. I watched that fight,” she replied. Asked about her take on the fight, Barragan revealed that years of ringside experience have sharpened her instincts for predicting outcomes.

“Yeah, in the beginning I was [team Canelo]… and then I was like, oh no. I’ve watched so many fights. I’ve been a ring girl for so many years. You know, you, kind of, learn and you can see who has the bigger…,” she added. Seckbach then pressed her for a rematch prediction — and Barragan didn’t miss a beat. “I would say it would be Canelo,” she declared confidently.

Barragan went on to explain why she’s betting on the Mexican star the next time around. “Because now he knows. Now Canelo knows…,” she continued during the interview, suggesting that Alvarez has figured out what makes Crawford tick—and could use that knowledge to turn the tables in a rematch. However, a rematch might not happen!

No rematch clause in Canelo vs. Terence Crawford
When two big names collide in the ring, a rematch clause is often in the mix. However, for the mega fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, that wasn’t the case. Veteran boxing journalist Dan Rafael revealed that neither camp pushed for an automatic rematch during contract negotiations.
“What I am told by Canelo [Alvarez’s] people is that absolutely there is no rematch clause in the contract,” Rafael told Boxing Social. “He does have two more fights on a contract with Turki. Now, if Turki said, ‘I wanna do the rematch,’ I guess they could make the rematch, but there’s nothing that he can invoke and say, ‘I’m getting an automatic rematch with Terence Crawford.’”
Having said that, even though, as Alyshia Barragan claims, Canelo Alvarez now knows what to do against Terence Crawford, the Mexican superstar doesn’t have a rematch clause in the contract. Only time will tell what the future holds for Canelo, but if the rematch does happen, do you think Canelo can win?
