Most consider him the future of boxing. But it seems like he’s ready to claim the present of the sport in his name. Curmel Moton, the 17-year-old, up-and-coming boxer, touted as the next Floyd Mayweather, has announced the plans for his next stint in the ring.

In September last year, the boxer who trains under the tutelage of Mayweather made his pro-debut against 27-year-old Ezequiel Flores. He won the bout via a groundbreaking first-round knockout. Two months later, personifying the word, ‘unstoppable’, he faced off against another relatively older fighter, Hunter Turbyfill. Stopping that fight too in a first-round knockout, he has established his base in the boxing world. Months later, after a bit of teasing, he has finally announced the date of his next fight.

March 30th, revealed ‘big deal’ Moton on his social media. Against who? That information he’s withheld. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the 49-2 amateur record fighter, in a simple note, wrote, “March 30th.”

A couple of hours later, divulging a little more about the preparations he’s begun for the third fight of his career, Moton posted an image with who seem like his training partners. He explained, “First day of camp start off with ten solid rounds appreciate the work. March 30th we going 3-0.”

The boxer, who generally trains at the infamous Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas had earlier teased the announcement of the date in an Instagram post. Posting a video of him going ballistic at a punching bag for “40 straight minutes” as he claimed, he wrote, “Fight date coming soon #tmt always working.”

30th March, as a date for his next fight, comes at an unexpected juncture. Prior to his announcement, speculations were rife that the young boxer would either be stacked on the undercard of the January 27 event featuring Jaime Munguia vs. John Ryder, or the next closest event, Teofimo Lopez vs. Jamaine Ortiz on February 8.
