The Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis showdown has been one of the most anticipated fights in the lightweight division. While the duo has been feuding for a while, there has not been much news about an actual fight between the two. However, the president of Showtime Sports, Stephen Espinoza, recently revealed that a Garcia vs Davis fight might just be around the corner.

Town Bizznizz, recently caught up with Espinoza, at the Deontay Wilder vs Robert Helenius fight venue. During the conversation, he mentioned that the fight between Errol Spence Jr., and Terence Crawford, will be taking place soon.

This was when the reporter asked him about updates on a potential Garcia vs Davis fight. Espinoza responded, saying, “I think that’s very close as well. I mean we, you know, we sort of largely have a deal in place. You know there’s some details still to be worked out. TV networks need to be worked out, you know. Our position is very clear, you know. And, we’ll see you know, we’ll see what everyone says.”

He mentioned that both Garcia and Davis both wish to fight each other. He further added, “But I think you know in terms of fighters, Ryan wants that fight next. Tank wants that fight next.”

It should be said that boxing fans were not convinced by Stephen Espinoza’s statement about a potential fight. And a lot of fans took to social media to share their thoughts about the same.

A few fans quickly panned the statement. They mentioned that they would only believe it when it is signed.

In fact, user @Chewy9991, even stated that the fight was ‘5 years away close’. Moreover, user @tigercoma2, asked if the fight was as close as the Spence-Crawford fight.

Meanwhile, a few fans pointed out that the TV network situation is the biggest hurdle for fights. Moreover, they also addressed the reliability of Espinoza’s statement if the network situation has not been taken care of.

However, a few fans were sure of  Garcia’s victory in the fight. User @LazyDiego01, mentioned that Garcia will catch Davis with a left hook. Similarly, user @ElCochiloco541, added that Garcia will win by late stoppage.

But, a user named, @Tomoneill84, had an interesting take on how the fight could be set up. He mentioned that bringing Tyson Fury’s team into the picture will speed up the process.
