Pound for Pound phenomenon Canelo Alvarez finally appears to have outlined his plans for the year and is edging towards Eddie Hearn’s offer instead of PBC’s. Having conquered the super middleweight division in 2021, the 31-year-old was considering a move to the higher weight categories.

That said, his upcoming plans will apparently put him into two different weight classes. Per reports, Alvarez will face Gennady Golovkin and Dmitry Bivol and bag $85 million from the Matchroom deal for two fights; PBC’s offer was at $45 million for WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.

Per the current scene, Canelo Alvarez will first meet WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on a reported date of May 7.

If he wins, he will defend the 168 lbs belts against Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy fight, possibly on September 17. However, GGG shall have to surpass Ryota Murata in a middleweight title unification before squaring off against Canelo Alvarez. Hence, the epic trilogy depends on Saul and Golovkin winning their next bouts.

Before all this, Alvarez was also considering a move to the cruiserweight division. WBC champion Ilunga Makabu also expressed his interest in offering a title shot to the P4P king. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk also agreed to fight Alvarez at 200 lbs, on the condition that he retains his heavyweight titles. Amid so many lucrative options, Canelo Alvarez seems to have fixed his sight on GGG and Bivol.

Following his split with Golden Boy, Alvarez has worked effectively with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom on a fight-to-fight basis. He fought Callum Smith, Avni Yildirim, and Billy Joe Saunders in joint forces with Hearn’s promotion. PBC’s Caleb Plant also earned a shot at Alvarez in between, which worked in favor of Canelo.
