The heavyweight clash between Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce has failed to materialize several times due to various reasons. However, that might change soon.
That said, Frank Warren and his team gave the fans hope when they announced November 28 and December 5 as potential dates for the blockbuster event. Although Queensberry Promotions wanted to host the event amid fans in the arena, Warren has confirmed that it will now take place behind closed doors.
Therefore, the fight is still in the air with a new date. Yet one cannot confirm it right away, considering its history.
Speaking with BT Sport, Warren said that he is eager to host the event soon. While both boxers are also ready to go against each other, Warren just needs to finalize the date.
Talking about it, Warren said, “We are going to do it behind the closed doors.”
However, the surprise element was Frank Warren billing the contest as the second biggest heavyweight thriller after Fury vs Joshua.
It is no surprise that Dubois and Joyce are two of the most looming undefeated heavyweights in boxing. Yet they have a long way to go in the sport. Well, Warren has already given them the spot, citing their upcoming matchup as a blockbuster event for the fans.
“It’s the biggest heavyweight fight, other than Tyson and AJ,” said Warren.
‘Dynamite’ Dubois (15-0) is the WBO International heavyweight champion, having 14 knockout wins under his name. There’s no denying that he can vanquish his opponent at any point, and all he needs is one shot. Thus, Dubois will lead the odds when he steps up against Joyce shortly.
On the other hand, ‘The Juggernaut’ Joyce (11-0) is an equally looming heavyweight fighter. Boasting 10 knockouts already on his record, he can impose some serious challenges against Dubois.
It is no surprise that the heavyweight gladiators will put on a show when they lock horns. However, they need to come up with a date first.
