While 2021 awaits with bigger challenges, Katie Taylor has one more feather to add to her glittery hat. The Irish powerhouse is the Ring Magazine female fighter of the year for the second time in a row.

It’s a monumental achievement for Taylor and Ring Magazine broke the news via social media. This sent boxing fans into a frenzy.

While Teofimo Lopez and Tyson Fury became the joint male fighter of the year, Taylor solely holds her spot as the female fighter for 2020.

Well, she clearly deserves the accolade. In a span of just three months, Taylor outpointed two elites via decision to keep her belts. She is now billed as the pound-for-pound great in the female roster.

That said, she might be the most popular female combat persona at the moment. ‘The Bray Bomber’ will look to use her platform to secure a cross-promotion clash against Bellator champion Cris Cyborg.

Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn and Bellator chief Scott Coker are on board, and this might just pave the way for a historic night for the women’s fight game.

What’s next for Katie Taylor?

The Bray Bomber has cleared off the whole lightweight roster and is undoubtedly the greatest in the division at this point. But, there are champions in different divisions that might get a crack at Taylor in the future.

WBO super featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer is one such fighter who can enter the lightweight division in the coming days. So, Taylor needs to continue honing herself to retain her clean record.

Akin to Taylor, several female boxers have a clean record. But Taylor’s experience, fight IQ, and the ability to drag a contest to the distance separates her from the others.

She might return to the ring in early 2021. If everything goes to plan, this return could be against the Bellator featherweight champion. Fans won’t say no to seeing her matched against an elite pugilist either.
