The lightweight kingpin, Teofimo Lopez, has finally pulled himself out of the clutches of the ongoing pandemic. Also, he’s all charged up to begin his training camp for the upcoming George Kambosos Jr. fight. Earlier, a fight between these two was set for June 19th. However, a few days before the fight, Lopez tested positive for COVID-19. Hence, the entire fight card got shifted to August 14th instead.

Lance Pugmire shared Teofimo Lopez’s recovery news on his official Twitter handle. Here, he wrote, Good news that @TeofimoLopez has passed his COVID test Wednesday and will re-open training camp Monday, according to manager David McWater.”

Lopez was in contention to battle out George Kambosos Jr. for a long time. This was to be ‘The Takeover’s first prime title defense and more than anyone else, he was excited to put on a show for one and all. Now, he will look to resume training and his fans will keep their fingers crossed that the coronavirus hasn’t compromised him.
