The WBC interim heavyweight champion, Dillian Whyte, is all set to take on ‘The Gypsy King’, Tyson Fury. Ahead of his career-defining fight, Whyte sat down for an interview with TalkSPORT Boxing. The 34-year-old spoke about his relationship with Fury as well as pointed out aspects of the fight that he is not happy with.

During the interview, ‘The Body Snatcher’, expressed that there’s a warrior code and a sense of mutual respect between the two fighters.

Dillian Whyte expresses his disappointment

As the WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury is owed the lion’s share of the fight purse. However, Whyte believes he is being paid much less than he rightfully deserves and explained his dissatisfaction.

He stated, “No I’m not happy with the purse split I’m not happy with the purse split because listen as man [Dillian Whyte] is the challenger and WBC interim champion I’m allowed by right I should be getting 45%-40% minimum.”

The 34-year-old disregards the fans’ claims saying he should be content with what he’s getting. According to Whyte, he risked his position and did everything the WBC asked of him and he deserves his share of the fight purse.

Money is not everything for Whyte

Although he expressed his discontentment with the purse split, Whyte has displayed a very optimistic view of the whole ordeal. He says, “But this is life, you don’t cry about stuff like that. It was never about the money or the split.”

As claimed by Whyte himself, he is a “man of principle”. Consequently, money is not what matters most to him but respect. He went on to add, “I’ll respect everyone I’ll expect you to do the same thing.”

However, he continued, “If you don’t respect me, then when you see me then me and you will have a problem.”
