The two fought on the main event on FOX and Plant gave Truax a complete boxing lesson. However, despite saying he wants to be undisputed, the IBF champion refrained from calling out the Mexican.

At the post-fight interview, Plant said his primary goal is to become the first super-middleweight champion of the world. He then added, “Whoever’s in the way, that doesn’t matter. You line them up, I’ll know ‘em down right here on FOX.”

To the question of a potential Canelo Alvarez fight, Plant remained diplomatic again. He called himself the best super-middleweight but added, “As I said, whoever’s in the way of me becoming the undisputed champion, you line ‘em up, I’ll knock them down.”

This diplomatic approach may have disappointed some fans who were expecting fireworks after the fight.

When could Caleb Plant fight Canelo Alvarez?

Alvarez has expressed his desire to unify the division and wants all the belts. He has even taken the fight against Avni Yildirim two months after his last fight, so he can make the unifications happen in the latter months of 2021.

Plant has just fought Truax, meaning he will be out of the sport for a while. Moreover, his return to training will depend on the severity of his hand injury which he sustained in the fight. Therefore, this gives both fighters enough time to meet for a later date.

Canelo has given his ideal time-line, which suggested a May and September schedule. While reports suggest he has already agreed on a deal for May with Billy Joe Saunders, Canelo has no opponent for September.

This could be the potential date for Plant to take on the Mexican, provided he gets through his next two fights. ‘Sweethands’ will have recovered by then and it would match Alvarez’s schedule.
