Canelo Alvarez is arguably the best active boxer right now. The P4P superstar showed his dominance yet again with another fantastic performance against Billy Joe Saunders. Plant holds the IBF super-middleweight belt. This is the only belt Alvarez does not have in the division. Moreover, rumors have linked the two to a fight for a while now, with many experts picking Alvarez to beat Plant. However, ‘Sweethands’ has had his say on Alvarez.

The 21-0 boxer spoke on ‘The Pug and Copp Boxing show’ and questioned Alvarez’s opponents. He said, “He’s been fighting, you know, these UK level guys, European-type guys, and that’s cool. But as far as him fighting the top, Floyd, Lara, Triple G, he’s 1-3.”

Plant added, “So, at the end of the day, he’s just a man, and he’s looked human in some of these bigger fights as well. As far as what he did to Billy, and the fashion that he won, that scaring me or making me more nervous or anything like that, that’s not the case.”

What do these comments from Caleb Plant mean for their potential bout?

The undefeated American showed that despite his devastating power and incredible skill, Alvarez does not make him nervous. Therefore, the IBF champion is confident in his ability to be the first man to beat Alvarez in over seven years.

In addition, his comments also revealed his opinion on Alvarez’s highly debated bouts. Plant claimed that in the four bouts, Canelo only won 1. However, on paper, Alvarez only lost to Mayweather and won controversial decisions against Lara and Golovkin. He drew the other bout against ‘GGG.’
