The IBF super-middleweight champion, Caleb Plant, is coming back to the ring after a year’s layoff. ‘Sweet Hands’ will storm inside the ring on January 30 against Caleb Truax. First, the undefeated boxer will defend his title against the veteran Truax, before he will look to fight for the undisputed belt against the pound-for-pound king, Canelo Alvarez.
In a chat with Premier Boxing Champions, ‘Sweet Hands’ unveiled his plans for the Alvarez fight and more. He said, “I feel like as of now between the Benavidez fight, the Canelo fight, that the Canelo fight is more appealing!”

The 28-year-old admitted that he is undeniably eyeing a fight with Canelo after his upcoming title defense. At one time, Plant was even speculated to take on David Benavidez when the latter held the WBC belt. But for now, ‘Sweet Hands’ has made his choice extremely clear between the two fights.
“I feel like it’s taking some steam away from that (Benavidez fight). So right now I’m focused on January 30 but definitely looking for that Canelo fight afterward,” he concluded.

Can Caleb Plant get his hands on Canelo Alvarez by 2021-end?
Canelo Alvarez has one of the tightest schedules for 2021. His first outing for the year is against Avni Yildirim, wherein he’ll defend all of his 168-pound titles. In his second run, he will challenge Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders for his WBO belt.
However, Plant will have to beat Truax next week before he can start thinking about fighting Canelo Alvarez.

If Saul Alvarez bags 2 wins in a row, he’ll undeniably focus on Caleb Plant to challenge him for his title. Hence, this fight might get booked for the latter half of the year.
