Caleb Plant had a sensational win against Caleb Truax last Saturday. As expected, it was a 12-rounder fight where the Nashville native dominated Truax for a unanimous decision win. That said, he is now in contention for a title unification fight, which predominantly might happen with the pound for pound king, Canelo Alvarez.

But Caleb Truax feels Plant is not ready to compete with the giant Mexican boxer.

In a post-fight interview with Fight Hub TV, Truax laid his notions on Plant’s probable collision with Alvarez and how he envisions it.

He needs more time to take the likes of Canelo but he’s a hell of a fighter.” said ‘Golden’.

He further continued, “I wouldn’t pick him to beat Canelo right now. I wouldn’t pick anybody to beat Canelo right now, so that not saying anything negative on him but he’s only got 21 fights, he’s got a plenty of time to develop and he seems to be getting better so let’s take his time.”

Truax feels Plant is one staunch competitor, but he doesn’t possess the skill-sets to beat Canelo Alvarez. ‘Golden’ believes the latter needs to spend more time polishing up his game in order to give a stern test to the Mexican boxer.

With a win over Truax, Caleb Plant improved to 21-0. He is undeniably a fighter to watch out for at the 168-pound category. However, he hasn’t contended with someone as resilient as Canelo Alvarez. Recently Alvarez crucified Callum Smith throughout 12 rounds to solidify his spot at the super-middleweight division.

He now has his eyes set to unify the division, and eventually, a fight with Plant will be on cards for 2021.

Canelo has a couple of fights lined up before moving to challenge ‘Sweethands’ for his IBF belt. Till then, the American boxer has ample time to work on his flecks and present himself much better against Saul Alvarez. This will be his toughest test to date, and his work ethics will be evident in his preparations.

If he pulls off a win over Alvarez somehow, needless to say, it’ll go down as one of the biggest upsets of the sport.
