Caleb Plant is living the American dream. Capitalism has worked out perfectly well for ‘Sweethands’. For him, it is an economic system that rewards hard work. Well, Plant’s successful boxing career took him out of his poverty-stricken surroundings, living in a trailer park in Nashville, Tennessee, and placed him in a luxurious mansion in Las Vegas, where he can now live a life of privilege. “There were times in the winter when we had no money for propane [gas] and we wouldn’t have heating. We’d just bundle up, put your sweats on, put your hoodie on, grab a bit of blanket, and stay warm. It made me really upset. Why do we have to be poor?” Plant recalled in an interview with ESPN.
Poverty was the motivation Caleb Plant needed to lace up his boxing gloves and work tirelessly in the gym. Eventually, Plant’s hard work paid off. His meticulously nurtured boxing talent putting his blood, sweat, and tears into his pursuit which led him to financially lucrative fights against elite boxers like Canelo Alvarez, Jose Uzcategui, and David Benavidez later on in his career. Now, he wants to pay his tribute to the system that made him a millionaire.
Caleb Plant, while sharing an anecdote of a wealthy man, wrote in the captions, “The good thing about capitalism is the chance to go out and make something of yourself.” Furthermore, the 32-year-old fighter pointed out that the system benefits the public at large because it gives “others the chance to work hard so they can do the same thing while they helped you.”

The Trickle-Down Effect!
Accompanying his caption was a post Plant shared on his X account that attempted to explain the benefits of capitalism through an anecdote. A person who bought an airplane was asked by another man, “Wonder how many people I could have fed for the price of that airplane?”
The man, who bought the plane, went on to explain that the purchase of the aircraft helped bring money in for “a lot of families at the Dassault factory.” The factory workers who rolled the aluminum that went into the manufacture of the plane, and the experts who built the turbines. Furthermore, it also put food on the table of the people working in the company that built a “new interior” for him, and also “families of the lineman that fuel the plane,” explained the post.

Have an interesting take?
All in all, the people who were in some way involved in the building and maintenance of the airplane benefitted from the money that trickled down from the purchase of the product, opined the man in the anecdote. “When you buy something you put money in people’s pockets, and give them dignity for their skills,” the post further read. On the other hand, socialism or welfare mentality “robs people of their dignity and self worth” as it gives them money for doing “nothing”.

“Socialism is taking your money against your will and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for,” the post highlighted towards the end.
