The March 25 fight which is set to feature two former super middleweight champions, David Benavidez and Caleb Plant has no lack of bad blood, which has started coming forth as their fight date encroaches. On Thursday, 2nd February 2023, the duo had an intense face-off following an exciting back-and-forth during a session of trash talk during the press conference. The attacks they made were very personal, as the duo has an interesting past. Surprisingly, both used to train in the same gym, but never came close enough to being friends.
Both have been eager for this fight for a long time and, finally, they got it. They have business that needs to be settled. This fight is clearly beyond title and money for the duo.
No doubt, intentions are treacherous. Mocking Benavidez, Plant said, “March 25th, I’ma be there, be in shape, be on weight, I ain’t gonna be on cocaine, and I’m gonna whup his a**.

To which Benavidez said, “March 25, mark my f***in words, I’ma put this e***fer in the hospital.”
Following the press conference, they took their feud to social media. Highlighting an event of the face-off, Plant wrote on Twitter, “Imagine bringing a bunch of belts to the press conference that don’t belong to you anymore…smh… show fr…”

Interestingly, his words make sense.
Why did Caleb Plant say so?
‘The Mexican Monster’ has held the WBC super middleweight title twice before. So he has two belts which he took when he went to the press conference and during a face-off, he put them on his shoulders. Mocking this, Plant took a dig.

As of now, the super-middleweight belts are with the undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez. The result of their upcoming clash would determine who would be mandatory for Canelo in the future.
Plant has already faced Canelo before and lost his IBF title by 11th-round knockout. However, Benavidez wants to fight Canelo but could not get him in the ring. Now, he has an opportunity in the title eliminator slugfest against his biggest rival.
