Caleb Truax Defends His Comments on Caleb Plant From 2016: ‘I Didn’t Like the Way He Was Showing Him Up’

Former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Truax has revealed the truth behind the comments he made about his opponent, Caleb Plant. The American explained why he sent out those tweets and taking aim at Plant.

The two will face off in a 12-round contest on Saturday, January 30th, for Plant’s IBF belt. Despite the subdued build-up to the fight, things have now started heating up between the pair. Plant has expressed his desire to get ‘revenge’ for Truax’s comments back in 2016.

However, Truax has given his side of the story. Speaking at the virtual press-conference, ‘Golden’ said, “I remember why I tweeted that.

“It’s because he was in the ring with a guy that had no business being in the ring with him, and I didn’t like the way he was showing him up.”

Thus, Truax doesn’t like Plant’s showboating in the ring, and that fueled the comments. He even admitted to cheering for Plant’s opponent in that fight. However, the former champion says he is glad they can settle it in the ring.

Caleb Plant fired back at Caleb Truax for his explanation

The current champion did not buy into the former champion’s explanation. According to the undefeated fighter, Truax should not have a problem with how he fights. Moreover, it should not warrant a verbal attack.

“Just because you’ve never done any of those things to any level of opponents that you’ve ever fought. So just because I can get in there and do those things, you got an issue with that?” said Plant.

This fight was initially seen as Plant facing his mandatory with the aim to take on bigger names later in the year. However, given these comments, we now know that this fight is deeper rooted than first expected.

Truax doesn’t rate the opposition Plant has faced while Plant wants to prove a point to the man that doubted him. The fans will only benefit from this as it promises to be a fiery encounter between the two.
