Over the past few months, the ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ segment from Golden Boy Promotions honcho Oscar De La Hoya has become the go-to spot for fans to catch all the ‘facts’ and fiery trash talk, condensed into a bite-sized, hard-hitting clip. However, ‘Golden Boy’ had to announce some disappointing news about the online feature on social media today.

The last ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ ran into a major issue when the video was taken down from social media because, per Oscar, it got reported by several people online. So, what was in the video that caused it to get banished from the internet? Well, he began by sharing an update on his fighter, Ryan Garcia’s upcoming exhibition against Rukiya Anpo.

He claimed the fight might not happen because Garcia is signed to his company, and they haven’t yet given the green light for the bout. Oscar also spoke about Shakur Stevenson, targeting a fight against his boxer Floyd Schofield Jr., shaming Eddie Hearn, Stevenson’s promoter, for pursuing a fight against someone with no title fight experience.

This matchup has since been confirmed for February 22nd in Saudi Arabia. Regardless, he took more digs towards Hearn, suggesting the Matchroom head is in a secret relationship with his female fighter, Skye Nicolson, and is giving her special treatment. However, it’s important to note there’s no concrete evidence to prove that is the case.

While duplicates of the video are available on the internet, De La Hoya never uploaded the clip on his social again. And now, the retired boxer revealed that he won’t be releasing this week’s ‘Clap Back Thursdays,’ claiming it will only get taken down by haters and robots.

“Due to haters/robots reporting Clapback Thursday, I will not waste my precious time speaking the facts only to have it removed. Happy holidays and let’s make CBT great again in 2025,” Oscar wrote in an Instagram story earlier today. Interestingly, it’s not just the fans, who have been loving the segment, even experts tune in to watch.

Paulie Malignaggi shares his admiration for ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ by Oscar De La Hoya

Back in July, Former welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi, speaking on Pro Box TV’s Deep Waters, shared his excitement. “When Oscar tweets or posts, I’m tuned in. I know sometimes it’s a train wreck, but I’m all for ‘Clap-back Thursdays’ every single day,” Malignaggi said.

De La Hoya’s debut episode took aim at the WBC’s handling of mandatory matchups, particularly calling out the organization’s inaction in the David Benavidez vs. Canelo Alvarez situation. “It doesn’t mean anything at all,” Malignaggi commented, echoing De La Hoya’s sentiments.

The retired world champion’s willingness to tackle uncomfortable truths about boxing’s politics has made ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ a popular, if controversial, addition to the sport’s conversation. And Malignaggi seems all for the no-holds-barred approach to dealing with it.

That said, it appears that fans, and Malignaggi for that matter, will have to go without hearing Oscar’s claps, as he rips people apart in his videos. It’s yet to be seen whether Oscar De La Hoya will continue his ‘spitting facts’ rampage in the future. Do you like ‘Clap Back Thursdays’?
