Differentiating the Mayweather loss from the recent one, Canelo said, “No I don’t feel that way. I feel like I can come out of this fight with my head held high because I gave the best of me in a different weight class. You know I’m looking for challenges and challenges in my career that take me out of my comfort zone, so I’m proud. I’m feeling good.”

Notably, light heavyweight was not the natural weight division for Canelo to compete in. He met with a fighter of a bigger stature, which pushed him to a disadvantage before he actually hit him in the ring.

Highlights of the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol

Canelo Alvarez stepped inside the jam-packed T-Mobile Arena as the face of boxing in the pink trunks. Meanwhile, Bivol in black took to the ring, boosting his phenomenal undefeated streak.

In the initial round, Bivol started establishing jabs to keep Alvarez at a safe distance. He kept on touching the Mexican’s high guard. Despite this, Alvarez unloaded a few power shots. But as the fight went deeper, he became slow and Bivol got back in rhythm. His smooth footwork and the one-two combination of jab-cross pushed Alvarez on canvas several times.

In the later rounds, the Pound for Pound King appeared frustrated, as it was clear to the spectators that the Mexican was losing. He fought back with more intense shots but could not break the tied guard of the Bivol. On several grounds, Canelo lacked what he is famous for. He was slow. Counter-punches were missing, and most importantly, Alvarez did not focus on Bivol’s body as he used to do.

Eventually, the fight ended with a verdict in Bivol’s favor.
