Canelo Alvarez enjoyed a terrific 2021, and he was right at the peak of his boxing run. Alvarez was eager to bag all the super-middleweight belts, and he ended up achieving what he wanted to. That said, he fought four times in 11 months, rolling out some performances worth remembering. Since then, Alvarez is trending over the internet for his potential cruiserweight move.

Recently, former boxing icon Erik Morales was in a chat with Fight Hub TV. Here, he shed light on the p4p king’s potential move to the cruiserweight frame.

He said, “I think it’s a great opportunity for fighters in that weight division. He a world champion in four divisions and he can be the first Mexican and Latino to be a 5-division world champion. I think it’s something good but super risky, but it will be worth it.”

A few days after his sensational win over Caleb Plant, Alvarez and his team opened up about moving to the cruiserweight landscape. Also, it was reported that Canelo will square off with WBC cruiserweight champ, Ilunga Makabu.

Also, this fight was expected in May 2022. However, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed this contest won’t come to fruition in May. With this, there is uncertainty about Canelo Alvarez’s next outing.
