The boxing world was in shock when Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol defeated pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez in May. It is regarded as one of the biggest upsets in boxing. However, Alvarez wanted his reputation back, and he challenged Bivol for a rematch. Before the rematch in 2023, Alvarez and Bivol will be facing different opponents.

Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn, who is also Canelo Alvarez’s promoter, recently revealed who Alvarez and Bivol will fight before their rematch. He said, “Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder is “very likely” next in May in the UK, USA, or Mexico, Eddie Hearn has said. He added that Dmitry Bivol could fight Joshua Buatsi or Callum Smith, before a Canelo rematch in September, potentially for Canelo’s undisputed titles at super-middleweight.”   

The Mexican boxer had already disclosed that a hand ailment could prevent him from competing. He then disclosed that he had finished his surgery and was prepared to face Bivol. However, according to the most recent rumors, both Bivol and Alvarez will compete against other boxers before their eagerly awaited rematch.

Canelo Alvarez hints toward coming to England for a boxing match 

The 32-year-old is one of the most accomplished boxers competing today. Saul Alvarez has established a solid reputation for himself with a phenomenal record of 58-2-2. He has some of the most profitable boxing matches under his belt, therefore every boxing arena wants to set one up for him. In light of this, he just expressed his desire to battle in England soon.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman recently shared a Tweet where he mentioned, “I took a taxi in London, the driver upon arrival at the destination looked at me seriously and asked me and said, I just want to know something…. Is it possible that one day @Canelo will come to fight in England?” Following Sulaiman’s Tweet, Alvarez replied, “Hopefully soon”

Talking about the Alvarez-Bivol clash, boxing fans believe that the Mexican boxer is too small for Bivol. However, Alvarez is known to take up tough challenges, and now he is eyeing to settle scores with Bivol in 2023.
