While Canelo Alvarez brushed off William Scull as “boring,” things could look very different with his next opponent. Sure, he reportedly earned a staggering $80 million from his last outing, but was the performance truly worth the price tag? Not really. Now, as Canelo gears up for the second bout in his four-fight deal with the Saudis against the two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford on September 12, the stakes are already sky high. And yet, even before this blockbuster clash unfolds, another altogether different challenger has entered the picture. Who is it?
Just hours ago, TVC Deportes shared an update on X quoting WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. The caption of the post read, “BAD BUNNY VS “CANELO” OR CRAWFORD? 🐰🥊 WBC President @wbcmoro Mauricio Sulaimán tells singer and fighter Bad Bunny that the WBC “will classify him as a mandatory challenger for the winner of the fight between “Canelo” and Crawford.” 😅The boxing revolution? 🥊” in Spanish, jokingly ofcourse.
In the post, speaking in Spanish, the WBC Prez jokingly declared, “I want you to know that the World Boxing Council is going to rank you number one as mandatory challenger for the winner of Canelo vs. Crawford.”

While the Puerto Rican rapper Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, aka Bad Bunny, has proven himself as an entertainer inside the wrestling ring, holding the WWE 24/7 Championship and performing at marquee events like the 2022 Royal Rumble and 2023 Backlash, he’s yet to compete in a professional boxing match. Sure, Bad Bunny might be able to land a flashy punch or two. But can he handle what comes flying back his way?
Anyway, if you’re wondering what led Mauricio Sulaiman to make such a bold statement in the first place, don’t worry, we’ve got the full story.

Dropping Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford? Nah, Bad Bunny’s gunning for G.O.A.T.s
In a recent appearance with Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos, Bad Bunny didn’t hold back. “Right now, I’d like to fight the winner between Canelo and Crawford. Canelo has never been knocked down and I think I have the power to do so,” he said. That’s a bold statement, especially considering that neither man has ever been knocked down, despite facing a combined total of 108 professional opponents. And while confidence is important in any combat sport, Bad Bunny’s claim is hard to take seriously, given that he has zero experience in professional boxing.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Bad Bunny's challenge to Canelo and Crawford a bold move or just a publicity stunt?

And if that wasn’t audacious enough, the music star also shared his fantasy matchups, stating his dream fights would’ve been against two of boxing’s all-time greats, Muhammad Ali and Julio Cesar Chavez. “My ‘dream match’ would be against Muhammad Ali, who I think I would have beaten, and Julio Cesar Chavez. It would have been a 15-round fight, give and take, in Mexico or Puerto Rico,” he added.
As ambitious as it sounds, it’s clear Bad Bunny is playing to the crowd, mixing showmanship with a heavy dose of humor. All jokes aside, boxing fans can’t help but wonder: how long would it take for either Canelo Alvarez or Terence Crawford to ‘handle business’ if Bad Bunny ever did step into the ring with them?
