Canelo Alvarez signed the most lucrative contracts in history with Golden Boy Promotions. He was set to earn an estimated $350 million over 10 fights, to be streamed on DAZN. However, just three fights into the deal, Alvarez called foul-play on DAZN and Oscar De La Hoya for not paying the $35 million per fight.

Canelo’s last fight with the promoters and DAZN was a knockout victory over Sergey Kovalev, which took his boxing record to 53-1-2. Since then fans have not seen the fighter in action due to the well-documented battle with his promoter Oscar De La Hoya in which he claimed a reported $280 million compensation. This long drawn process seems to be over with the two parties finally reaching an agreement.

This will be welcome news to everyone, including the fans. DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions have finally ended their biggest saga. As Canelo Alvarez is free, there is a possibility that boxing enthusiasts could see the super-star return to the ring before the end of 2020.
