Even though Canelo has faced one of the greatest boxers of all time, Floyd Mayweather, he replied to this by naming “Gilberto Roman” as the fighter with the best defense. Roman was a two-time WBC and lineal super flyweight champion. He had a nickname called the ‘Cachanilla’. Moreover, Roman won his first super flyweight championship after he defeated the Japanese Jiro Watanabe via decision. Additionally, he had a decent boxing record of 54-6-1.

The story of the Mexican great is not all happy-go-lucky as he met with a tragic end at the age of 28 years. Roman was involved in a car accident on 27th June 1990, which resulted in the death of the Mexican boxer.
