Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. After beating his rival Gennady Golovkin back in September, the Mexican champ has laid low for quite a while and is more focused on his family. Saul even threw a massive party for his daughter, Emily Cinnamon Alvarez’s birthday party.

Moreover, the party was conducted straight out of a movie. The event was held in luxury on Alvarez’s ranch and was attended by the likes of Carín León and, in the star turn, Grupo Firme. However, things would take a turn for the worse after rumors emerged that the party had some unpleasant moments. It was reported that Alvarez even got into an altercation with Firme after he drank too much. He ran off in an ugly way to the musicians of his friend, Eduin Caz, and also insulted the attendees, calling them “freeloaders”.

Canelo Alvarez shares his side of the story

Now, Alvarez has come back to share his side of the story. According to him, this altercation was blown up by the media and revealed that Caz would be attending a football game with him as well. “The truth is that you guys in the media make a very big mess where there’s nothing, but well, that’s what you live off of and that’s fine. I just talked to him, he’s coming on Monday because he’s going to be at the football thing,” said Alvarez, criticizing the media during a question session at the presentation of his VMC drink.

Alvarez and Caz have both laughed off the overblown coverage the media gave to this altercation. He claimed that although his PR team asked him how to move further with this; he had nothing to add or say to the media and public. “We have a nice relationship, when the viral videos came out we talked and laughed and the truth is that my PR people asked me if I wanted to do something and the truth is that I don’t have to say anything,” he concluded.

This was not all, as Caz also posted a picture of the two hugging with the caption. “For the other one, we are still drinking”. This might give us a hint that all is well between the two friends.
