Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was born to Santo Alvarez and Anna Maria Barragan on July 18, 1990, in Guadalajara, Mexico. His father was a farmer when Alvarez was young.

They came from a middle-class background and had to struggle for money. Their family later shifted to Juanacatlán in Jalisco, when Alvarez was still young.

Fortunately, their destiny took an upswing when Alvarez began professional boxing, and he soon became a household figure. Throughout this time, his father remained a significant influence on Alvarez.

Canelo Alvarez’s Brothers: Who Are They?

Anna Maria Barragan, Canelo’s mother, is reportedly of Irish origin. Childhood biography further reports it as the reason for Alvarez’s red hair.
