The ‘Pacman’ succumbed to a shocking defeat at the hands of Yordenis Ugas, following which he announced his retirement from the sport, leaving retro boxing fans absolutely shattered.

However, contrary to die-hard fans, many boxing purists believe this is just the ideal time for Pacquiao to step out of the game. They believe he is way past his vintage self and there’s nothing more that’s left to prove.

It is sad, indeed

Recently, even the Mexican boxing great, Canelo Alvarez, opened up on the veteran’s retirement and his achievements in the sport. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, he said, “It’s time, I think it’s time, and it’s sad to hear, but he do a lot of things in boxing, so he’s a great fighter.”

Pacquiao maintained a lackluster boxing stint, prior to appearing under the big lights this year. Post his appearance in 2019, the Filipino Senator took a prolonged gap, only to come back again and fight in 2021.

That being said, he faced Yordenis Ugas last month and inactivity was evident in his conduct on fight night. The power-packed puncher couldn’t land one significant hit on Ugas, and he constantly kept looking for those slick combinations.

That being said, ‘Pacman’ has a string of opportunities aligned and there’s nothing he can’t conquer with his brilliance. Undoubtedly, the sky is now the limit.

Moreover, he hung up his gloves from boxing at the right time, as presidential elections were on the brink. Now, the legendary fighter has another career vertical to excel in. And just like he did in boxing, Pacquiao looks promising to have a stellar political career, too.
