Following his victory over Billy Joe Saunders, Canelo Alvarez sat down with the press for his post-fight interview. WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade crashed this press conference and called out Alvarez for a fight.

Canelo looked at Andrade and started laughing. After the pair exchanged a few words, the conversation heated up and Canelo told Demetrius to “Get the f*ck outta here man.” The security escorted Andrade and his team out and Canelo laughed the whole incident off.

In an interview with COMPLEX, Alvarez explained his actions. He said, “To be honest, there’s a point where you just get annoyed with people jabbing at you verbally and coming at you. They try to offend. At a certain point you have to start reacting, respond. So I think that’s what’s been going on. I’m just responding now. To be honest, I think it was more of an embarrassment for him.”

“That’s not an appropriate way to set up a fight. It was my moment and he shouldn’t have stepped in like that. I basically had to respond to him.”

Throughout his career, Canelo Alvarez has been a quiet fighter. He has never shown too much personality or responded to any trash talk. However, recently, the Mexican champion has started answering media questions in English and is showing more personality outside the ring.

Canelo Alvarez comes to blows with Caleb Plant

Another example of Canelo showing more personality is when he faced off against Caleb Plant. In their first press conference for their November 6 fight, ‘Sweethands’ Plant and Canelo Alvarez got into a heated exchange on stage during their face-off.

It all started as Plant continually kept going at Canelo and his trainer Eddie Reynoso. Plant made some strong accusations, calling Canelo a cheater who uses banned substances repeatedly. All this trash talk culminated when Plant called Canelo a ‘motherf**ker’. Canelo found this offensive and pushed Plant. This prompted ‘Sweethands’ to swing back.
