Canelo Alvarez is back in the limelight as his next fight got announced. The p4p king became the maiden undisputed super-middleweight champ last year, post which everyone expected him to scale up in weight. That said, Canelo’s next fight will be at the light heavyweight frame against an undefeated champion in Dmitry Bivol.

Although this is an alluring matchup in its own way, many fans, Mike Tyson, and even Floyd Mayweather, wish to see Canelo take on David Benavidez.

Recently, a reporter raised the same question, and Canelo had a fiery response to the same.

He said, “I don’t care what they, what they feel. At the end of the day, no make sense for me, right? They don’t have nothing to offer me.”

David Benavidez has been a constant name that has appeared as Canelo’s next potential opponent. Moreover, he’s even called out the p4p biggie many times. But, Canelo is focused on his own run and isn’t willing to budge on what he ultimately wishes to do.

Earlier, Alvarez was expected to fight at the cruiserweight landscape. But he ultimately settled on contesting Bivol. For his next fight, Canelo might square off with rival Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy.

But everything depends on Alvarez’s and ‘GGG’s performance in their next fights. Citing this, it is evident that Canelo has a busy fight plan in 2022. In that, a fight with David Benavidez seems unlikely at the moment.

David Benavidez is desperate to put his undefeated stint to the test against Canelo Alvarez.

In the above interview, the reporter even asked the Mexican great whether this fight happens before he retires.

“Yeah, maybe,” he replied.

Canelo hasn’t completely cut this fight, but in his present plans, Benavidez doesn’t fit in as an ideal opponent. In the coming time, this fight might become vital if Benavidez keeps winning and makes himself viable for a 168-pound title shot.

Also, it’ll be intriguing to see whether Canelo remains or vacates his belts by the time Benavidez scales up to reach him.
