The wait is finally over as boxing fans can witness Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano settle the scores once and for all. Following a delay due to an injury for Brian Castano, the duo will fight for the undisputed throne of the super welterweight division on Saturday, 14th May 2022 in Los Angeles. Canelo Alvarez’s rival and the two-time WBC super middleweight champion, David Benavidez, has made his choice.

Benavidez has revealed who he thinks will become the undisputed champion. This fight will be broadcasted by SHOWTIME Boxing.

Who will win between Charlo and Brian according to David Benavidez?

In an interview with Premier Boxing Champions ahead of his fight with David Lemieux on 21st May 2022, Benavidez gave his opinion about the outcome of Charlo vs Castano 2. The youngest champion in super middleweight history said that this fight will follow a similar pattern to the last one.

He stated, “I feel like it’s going to be a great fight I feel like it’s going to be exactly how it was as the first one but I’m very excited to see it.” Even though the previous fight ended in a draw, Benavidez believes Castano won that fight. Consequently, he claims Castano will defeat Charlo this time around.

He elaborated, “I think Castano won the first one but I feel like Castano is going to come back and win the second one it’s going to be a tough fight, it might be a close fight but I feel like Castano is going to win it.

On 18th July 2021, Jermell Charlo went toe-to-toe against the WBO super welterweight champion Brian Castano to be an undisputed champion.

The fight was evenly matched as both boxers gave it their all and displayed some masterful boxing. However, the fight ended in a draw and there couldn’t be a definite undisputed champion.

Nevertheless, the two champions will be getting a shot again in their upcoming rematch.
