It seems that the two contests were not enough to settle the heated rivalry between the biggest names of this generation, Canelo Alvarez, and Gennady Golovkin. After producing two spectacular showdowns, the pair have decided to carry on the series of their bouts, which is still in favor of undisputed super-middleweight Canelo Alvarez with a record of 1-0-1.

However, Golovkin did not believe in the listed numbers. Since he lost to Canelo in 2018 in a highly anticipated rematch (which he thinks he won) he has been repeatedly asking for a third bout. Canelo, who is coming out of an upset loss against the Russian light heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol, has agreed to square off with GGG.

The Mexican icon was most likely to go for a rematch against Bivol. However, he changed his plan and decided to meet Bivol later after finishing some business with his old rival GGG.

Talking about Golovkin, he said, “Yep. And me coming back off a loss, it’s more motivating. I really want to come back better than ever and he’s gonna pay.”

The IBF and IBO middleweight titlist, Golovkin, is in the fading days of his career. So it is not going to be easy for him to register an upset win against Canelo, who has returned to his natural weight class after getting throttled in the lightweight division.
