The Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders event made history by attracting a record-breaking attendance at the AT&T Stadium. Following so many behind-the-door fights in 2020, boxing seems to be back in its primary flow. That said, Alvarez and Saunders have successfully garnered an almost full house crowd for their clash.

So, a new attendance record was set for the indoor boxing fights in the USA. Boxing reporter Keith Idec revealed the news on social media, sending several fans into a frenzy. He took to Twitter and wrote, “The official attendance was just announced as 73,126 at AT&T Stadium, an indoor record for boxing in the United States.”

 

Following a successful title defense against Avni Yildirim in February, Alvarez is back in action to add the WBO title on his shoulder. Meanwhile, Billy Joe Saunders appears ready to defend his belt and unbeaten record in front of the Mexican superstar.

The 168 lbs matchup has seen several controversies in the build-up. It was also on the brink of falling apart in the final week. While the fight has officially made it to the ring, the boxing world seemingly couldn’t restrict them from watching the event live.
