A part of the credit for Floyd Mayweather’s moniker of ‘The Best Ever’ goes to Jeff Mayweather. An ever-present in Floyd Mayweather’s corner, he knew how to coach his boxer to frustrate opponents and break them down to win bouts. Even though ‘Money’ has retired, Jeff Mayweather, who is still active in the boxing world, has provided a significant review of current p4p king Canelo Alvarez.

Jeff Mayweather, one of those who carefully watched ‘Money’ Mayweather box Canelo Alvarez, feels the Mexican learned from ‘TBE’ when he saw his forty-three fight undefeated streak end.

On Thaboxingvoice, Jeff Mayweather said, “Now, I mean Canelo has, you know… I mean, he’s upped his game. And I mean Canelo is a much, much better fighter than he was when he fought Floyd, you know, and I think that you know…”

“Uhm… like I said, I think that he took a page out of Floyd’s book, you know… to some degree, not all of it, but to some degree and Uhm… and now he is master, he is the master now. I mean, Floyd is gone and Canelo is doing all the things that Floyd had done.”

In 2013, Floyd Mayweather showed he was still the master of the ring. He controlled Alvarez and toyed with him throughout the bout. After Alvarez lost, he enhanced his professional record and claimed many titles across different weight classes.

He has also won titles at middleweight (vs Gennady Golovkin) and light heavyweight (vs Sergey Kovalev).

Alvarez is feared for his speed and hard-hitting abilities in the ring, which makes him a tough foe in the current generation. Having created history at super-middleweight, he is aiming to do so in other divisions as well.

He will fight Dmitry Bivol for the light heavyweight title in May, but will always have an eye on the cruiserweight division, i.e. the weight class in which he had secured a title fight at the end of 2021. Should he win at 200 lbs, he will emulate Mayweather in a true sense with titles in five weight classes.
