‘Boo Boo’ Demetrius Andrade has proved his championship caliber once again, by defending the WBO strap in a lopsided showdown against Liam Williams. The undefeated titleholder is now 30-0 and is a viable figure in the stellar middleweight roster.

Hence, it might be the time to unify a few belts in the division and Andrade has seemingly targeted IBF champion Gennady Golovkin. Although he has several more names on sight, ‘GGG’ appears to be the most likely.

Following ‘Boo Boo’s’ win against Williams on April 17, Eddie Hearn spoke to the media and chalked up a future for him. Not only that, but Hearn also revealed a few of Gennady Golovkin’s upcoming plans. That said, he proposed two matchups with the Kazakh superstar in the near future.

“Gennady Golovkin, a great champion, you know, he’s planning a fight with Murata on December the 31st. We’re in April. Gennady Golovkin should be looking and speaking to DAZN and us and saying, ‘I’ll fight Demetrius Andrade in the summer and then I’ll fight Murata in Japan.’ Two massive unification fights,” said Eddie Hearn. Demetrius Andrade vs Gennady Golovkin- Who else is in the mix?

Although Golovkin hasn’t responded to the offer, Hearn seems adamant about staging the fight. Meanwhile, Demetrius Andrade has been one of the most avoided champions on the roster. Despite a stellar journey of 30 wins, he is yet to go against the superstars of the middleweight roster.

As we look to the current scenario, Golovkin has the IBF strap and Andrade boasts the WBO belt. So they can lock horns to unify the titles under one name.

Speaking about the idea, Eddie Hearn continued, “Champions have to fight champions. And Demetrius can’t just keep defending his belt. He was great tonight. Liam Williams was great tonight. And again, like you said, [Andrade] was hurt. He was tired. He can’t make 160 forever. So, if you’re Charlo, if you’re Golovkin, let’s do it. Let’s make the unification fights. Champions v. champions. That’s what boxing’s about.”

Well, a unification fight can arrive from anywhere at this stage. Apart from ‘GGG’ and ‘Boo Boo’, the other two belts are held by Jermall Charlo (WBC) and Ryota Murata (WBA). Meanwhile, super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez also holds a WBC ‘franchise’ title at the middleweight division. Thus, there are umpteen mega-clashes aligned, and Andrade can possibly get his much-awaited unification fight.
