Chris Eubank Jr. Donates £10,000 After Winning His Bet on Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Fight

On May 8, Billy Joe Saunders’ fight with Canelo Alvarez ended in the most tragic fashion. It was one of the most awaited contests in 2021, ending via an RTD in round 8. The Mexican boxer fared exuberantly well in this clash to add another sensational win to his name.

That said, the Brit Chris Eubank Jr., who made a £10,000 bet on Canelo Alvarez winning this fight, won his bet. And as per his promise, Eubank Jr. donated the entire amount he won to charity.

The Sussex native took it to his official Twitter handle to share the news pertaining to this juncture. Moreover, he shared a picture of him donating the amount to a children’s charity firm. ”I’m a man of my word,” he wrote.

Chris Eubank Jr. shares an extensive rivalry with fellow countryman Billy Joe Saunders. The duo’s feud began when they touched gloves with each other in 2014 for middleweight titles. In this clash, ‘Superb’ handed over Eubank Jr. his first career loss, and since then, their rift has only escalated.

Prior to the Canelo vs Saunders fight, Eubank Jr. made his bet and was pretty clear on who will win this fight.

Saunders gave Alvarez a rugged in-ring outing. But the latter’s skillsets were too much to handle for the Brit. And as a result, he ended up on the losing vertical for the very first time in his professional boxing stint.

The fight between the pair commenced well, as ‘Superb’ only moved forward with his shots. But as soon as the Guadalajara boxer decoded Saunders’ style, he constantly pressurized him with his defense and power.

Yet, there were a few moments in between the fights where Billy Joe Saunders staggered Canelo. But it wasn’t enough for him to score a win. As the fight moved ahead, Canelo was all over ‘Superb’. And as a result, he struck the latter with a solid uppercut in round 8.

This resulted in a serious eye injury, and considering that, the referee decided to end the bout after round 8. But looking back at his performance, the Hertfordshire native will be proud and happy with how he presented himself.
