When Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn are involved, you can almost guarantee twists and turns. Earlier this year, Eubank Jr. defeated Benn in their first meeting. But on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the tables flipped dramatically. Eubank Jr. was blindsided the moment he met Benn at the center of the ring.

The rematch was as one-sided as it gets. Benn dominated from start to finish, scoring two knockdowns and cruising to a unanimous decision. The judges had it 119-107, 118-108, and 116-110—all for Benn, who finally got his revenge. Naturally, talks of a trilogy have already begun off the back of the rematch… because why not?

Ring Magazine wasted no time sharing the result on X moments after the fight. “REDEMPTION FOR BENN,” they wrote. “Conor Benn BEATS Chris Eubank Jr by unanimous decision.” And understandably so—this matchup carried enormous weight for both fighters’ legacies. By now, everyone knows just how deep the rivalry runs in the Eubank and Benn bloodlines.

Their fathers, legends in their own eras, fought twice in the 1990s, giving this year’s two fights an added layer of history and legitimacy. After the fight, though, Conor Benn made it clear that there doesn’t need to be a trilogy. “It’s been some journey, and I feel like this is the end of the Benn-Eubank saga,” Benn said post-fight.

“Done and finished. It’s over. I know Chris has twins coming and I’ve got my boy, but this ends here.” Meanwhile, Chris Eubank Jr. shared his thoughts on a trilogy. “It’s 1-1, I’ve got to go away and deal with some of the things I’ve been dealing with over the last couple of months, and who knows?” Eubank said.
“Maybe we’ll see something new with me and him, maybe we won’t.” While Eubank Jr. still left a door open for a rematch, fans had other ideas.

Chris Eubank Jr. gets humbled by fans
One user felt that Eubank Jr. was just surviving during the fight. The user wrote, “That was a horrible spectacle, Jr. looked like a weak old man in there from the first bell, just surviving really. Goes without saying, but absolutely no 3rd fight, the man is done.” However, there’s always a way to spin a story.
Another user sided with Chris Eubank Jr. The user said, “I’ll be there when he fights someone that has energy and isn’t weight drained and gets stopped.” The rematch, like the first fight, had a 10-pound rehydration clause limiting fighters to no more than 170 pounds on fight morning.

Someone else thought Chris Eubank Jr. may have entered the ring with the intention to lose. The user wrote, “I expected Eubank to lose, but he was so unbelievably bad it almost feels like he wasn’t trying.” Perhaps overconfidence may have played a role.
The fourth user was put off by the result of the fight. The user claimed, “This is why boxing is stupid. They’ll do a trilogy even when it wasn’t close.” Ultimately, if people aren’t willing to pay to watch it, they wouldn’t.
Another user praised Conor Benn for improving his game. The user wrote, “Eubank looked like wet tissue paper in there, but fair play to Benn, adjusted very well from the first fight.” Well, Benn is much younger and faster than Eubank Jr., so it was bound to happen.

That being said, it seems the public has had its fill of Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn for now. Maybe one day, if their children step into the boxing world, the family rivalry will spark back to life. But for the moment, the chapter feels closed. Do you want a trilogy?
