Today, Claressa Shields took to X (formerly Twitter), accepting a challenge of abstaining from s*x in exchange for $700 million. However, a prior comment from the undisputed middleweight champion suggests otherwise. “Lol. I Used to do 6 weeks before a fight, Now I do 5 weeks sustaining from s*x. I think as you get older it gets harder for real,” wrote Shields in a tweet from May 18 this year.
Back then, the ‘Goat’ Shields was supporting Devin Haney’s claim about facing the same difficulty leading up to a fight. It’s worth mentioning that holding out from engaging in s*xual activities is a crucial part of an athlete’s preparation for game day. However, despite her past claims of facing difficulty in abstaining from s*x, the ‘Goat’ Shields decided to accept the challenge.

Claressa Shields says no problem
Earlier today, a user on X posed an interesting question, asking people whether they could live without s*x for two years in exchange for a whopping $700 million. The user wrote, “Could you survive? No s*x for 2 years and get $700 million, can you??” Shields, who has spoken on a similar matter before, quickly found the tweet, accepting the challenge in a heartbeat.

“I could do this with ease,” wrote Shields mere hours after the initial tweet from the user. Seemingly, Shields now has a better grip on her self-control and discipline. Moreover, as an elite-level athlete competing against the best in the industry, some would say – abstaining from s*x would be easy for her. On a separate note, here’s what Devin Haney said about the same topic.
Devin Haney: I used to do 8 weeks
On 20 May earlier this year, Devin Haney went toe-to-toe with Vasyl Lomachenko at MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, taking home the fight via close unanimous decision victory. However, before the fight, on 16 May, Haney appeared in The Pivot Podcast, where he shed light on his struggle with abstaining from s*x.

During the podcast, one of the hosts brought up the topic. So, Haney stated, “I used to do 8 weeks [Of abstaining from s*x before the fight]. But I couldn’t do it anymore because I’d start getting wet dreams closer to my fight.” Later in the podcast, Haney even revealed that he once had a wet dream on the day of a fight, so he could not continue doing it.

Despite claiming to have a hard time avoiding s*x before her fights in the not-so-distant past, Shield accepting the $700 million challenge to avoid s*x for two years shows the improvements she has made as an athlete. However, the bigger question is – what do you think about Shields’ claim?
