Claressa Shields is still undefeated in his professional boxing career. In just fifteen fights, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has become a five-division champion and a two-time undisputed champion. In her last fight against Canadian boxer Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse, she got the job done in the second round, winning by TKO, picking up the vacant WBO World Light Heavyweight belt and the WBC World Heavyweight belt. But, is complacency creeping up in the ‘GWOAT’? Are the competitors in women’s boxing really that weak?

Shields’ latest tweet on X would come as a shocker. But, was it meant in jest? Since women so easy, I want to do one of those fights against a man where it’s him vs 2 women I guarantee “we” win!” she wrote.

Her tweet prompted certain users in the comment section to make fun of her idea. One user posted a video of a MMA fight between one man and two women. On a cursory look, it looked embarrassing as the two women were being pummeled by an oversized man. Their caption, written with the intent to insult Shields, read —“It’s gonna go just like this.”

The tweet came to Shields’ attention who highlighted the weight difference between the man and the two women and further stated that she was down for such a challenge. “Lol yeah ok. I want to do one of these, since any regular man can beat me,” Claressa wrote sarcastically.

Interestingly, Shields has a thriving MMA career, having joined hands with the PFL in 2021. She has a 2-1-0 record in the fight promotion, with her last win coming against Kelsey De Santis in February of this year at the PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions event. Safe to say, she is quite familiar with the MMA format, however, the possibility of any man taking up such an offer is close to zero.

However, this isn’t the first time that Claressa Shields has challenged a man to a fight.

Courage or foolishness?

Only the ‘GWOAT’ would have the chutzpah to call out the former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman. ‘One Time’ has been in her crosshairs for quite a long time. In fact, Thurman agreed to fight Shields in an exhibition boxing match last year for charity. However, nothing concrete materialized.

Nonetheless, in an interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game this year, she targeted Thurman again, stating that she was “bigger” than him and possessed “better skills.” It is quite clear from her statement that she still believes she can win against Thurman.

“Thurman is not that great of a boxer. Is he strong? Yes. But what else? Tim Tszyu’s gonna knock Thurman’s a** out. I’m a woman, but I’m bigger than Thurman, I’m longer, I’ve got better skills. How’s he gonna take the punches I give him? Thurman can’t take a body shot. You’re talking to a boxing encyclopedia,” Shields said confidently.

Even though the Flint, Michigan native is down to face Thurman, the latter is yet to respond to the fresh challenge. Lately, Thurman had to pull out of his fight against Tim Tsyzu on March 30 due to a bicep injury.
