“Come Get These Real Belts” – Devin Haney’s Father Bill Haney Calls Out Teofimo Lopez

Devin Haney’s father Bill Haney has called out newly crowned franchise champion Teofimo Lopez for a fight against his son. Haney Sr was very blunt in his comments about the champion.

There have been speculations of a Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney fight ever since Lopez beat Lomachenko. Haney’s father is all for it and wants to see that fight happen.

Speaking to Behind The Gloves on YouTube, Bill Haney is seen with two WBC belts on his shoulders. To the question of which fight he would like to see next with fans allowed in, he said, “Teofimo Lopez; after we finish this fight.”

Bill Haney wants Teofimo Lopez to get the ‘real’ belts, saying that the franchise champion means nothing. He said, “come get these real belts. This ain’t franchise sh*t.” There has been a lot of controversy regarding the belts in boxing lately and many don’t value the franchise champion; Bill Haney seems to be one of them.

Devin Haney is only focusing on the Yuriorkis Gamboa fight.

Though he had a lot to say about Teofimo Lopez, Bill Haney refrained from making any comments about when the fight will happen.

He said, “I ain’t got nothing to say about him. We’ve got to handle this business. Saturday night, like I said, I didn’t stutter about it, come on, get this real sh*t. Come get this real hardware. And not none of the franchise business.”

This showed the mentality of the Haney camp is wholly directed towards the tough task at hand.

Devin Haney will take on Yuriorkis Gamboa in a highly anticipated main event live on DAZN. The 21-year-old will be out to prove a point against the 38-year-old who fans believe will be his toughest fight yet. Haney says he will beat Gamboa worse than anyone has beaten him before.

Considering Gamboa’s vast experience, this is not going to be easy. Nonetheless, this will be a great fight to watch.
