The rivalry between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. reached new heights in Riyadh when The Destroyer confronted Eubank Jr. in the ring after the latter successfully defeated Kamil Szeremeta. It was a huge ordeal, and Brazilian soccer star Neymar Jr. had to play mediator to keep them apart.

Things had already heated up a day before his Kamil Szeremeta bout. The two got in each other’s faces in the hotel lobby after the weigh-ins. The security and the bystanders had to intervene to separate these two from each other as the altercation turned nearly physical. With rumors swirling that a potential fight between Benn and Eubank Jr. could take place next year, sports performance consultant Victor Conte added fuel to the fire by trolling Benn and his promoter Eddie Hearn.

Victor Conte claims Conor Benn is scared of Chris Eubank Jr.

Former BALCO president Victor Conte took to ‘X’ to mock Benn, suggesting he is intimidated by the IBO middleweight champion. Conte wrote, “Seems like @conornigel is afraid of @chriseubankjr because he acts like a little dog that barks loudly because he is scared.” His comments implied that Benn would be unable to handle Eubank Jr. inside the ring.

He further touched upon the fact that even though Hearn thinks highly of Benn, Matchroom Boxing stars have been losing constantly in 202. ” @eddiehearn says he is a big star, but most of his boxers seem to lose. Seems Eddie is desperate to distract people from looking at the records of his boxers,” wrote Conte, directly attacking the 23-0 boxer and Matchroom Boxing CEO.

After the confrontation at the weigh-ins, the Sussex resident also downplayed the confrontation and termed his fellow Englishman a coward. Eubank Jr stated that ‘The Destroyer’ won’t be able to do anything in the ring, adding, “I’m not worried about Conor Benn.”

As this rivalry is reaching a boiling point, fans are desperate to see these two collide in the ring. The match nearly happened last in 2022 but fell apart when Benn tested positive for a banned substance weeks before the fight. But with the increasing animosity between these two, it looks like we might see them facing each other next year.

It looks like the duo might face each other in May 2025, as His Excellency Turki Alalshikh himself wants to see the fight. In an interview after the Artur BeterbievDmitry Bivol fight, he stated, “May is the month I have in mind,” while talking about the potential clash between these two English boxing royalties.

Benn has not fought since February because of the ban imposed on him by BBBoC and might need a tune-up fight before ultimately facing Eubank Jr. On the other hand, the IBO middleweight champion is on a tear after defeating Szeremeta via a 7th-round knockout. A clash at this point in both of their careers will be a sensational bout.

Though nothing is confirmed yet, the potential clash has captivated boxing fans, who recognize that this fight transcends a typical rivalry. It’s a battle between two athletes with famous boxing fathers, making the bout as much about legacy as it is about personal pride.
