Conor Benn Pens Inspiring Message After NADP’s Recent Decision On His Suspension

In a major setback to Conor Benn, the UKAD and BBBofC have reportedly succeeded in challenging the UK’s National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP)’s ruling. The body had allowed him to resume his career in July last year. But since the UKAD and BBBofC had appealed the NADP’s ruling, he could not return to a ring in his home country. Soon after the news of the setback emerged, the fighter penned a rather inspiring message on his Instagram.
In 2022, the British fighter tested positive twice for a banned substance, Clomifene. It led to the collapse of his fight against, Chris Eubank Jr. He maintained his innocence by suggesting accidental consumption of the substance. However, a suspension by the UKAD and BBBoC stopped him from fighting in the UK. With the UKAD and BBBofC winning their appeal against NADP’s earlier ruling, the fighter’s fate in the sport continues to dangle in uncertainty. What does Benn think about this concerning update?

‘The Destroyer’ wrote an indirect message on his Instagram stories. The note came shortly after NADP’s new ruling in favor of the UKAD and BBBofC. With a selfie of his, supposedly after a sweat workout, he wrote, “Work ethic unmatched. Block out the noise and stay focuses!” Michael Benson archived the story on his X, formerly Twitter.

The suspension impacted his career trajectory heavily. The fighter was been unable to undertake any bouts in his homeland. However, that has not stopped him from fighting in the ring. To bridge the gap, through foreign boxing licenses, he’s won twice in the US against Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson. He, through it all, remained hopeful to fight in his country soon. However, the new ruling jeopardizes those hopes.

What now?
Earlier, it was understood that the NADP’s decision to allow the Essex-based boxer to fight in the UK was “focused heavily” on UKAD’s inability to rule on VADA tests. The decision was further strengthened by the lack of scientific explanation the body could provide to justify the elevated clomifene levels.
Now, that the UKAD and BBBofC have won their case against the decision, it remains to be seen if his suspension will be reinstated or if he’d be required to clear his name at another hearing. However, he’ll still be able to compete internationally. The WBC last year cleared his name suggesting that the increased levels of clomifene could be attributed to an increased level of egg yolk consumption.

While the WBC has no power to suspend the fighter, it, however, holds the authority to sanction his fights. On the fight front, talks are raging about a potential fight between Manny Pacquiao and the welterweight. What do you think could be Conor Benn’s future in boxing after this verdict?
