On April 11th, Conor Benn is set to kick off his ambitious $15M deal with Dana White and Zuffa Boxing. At the Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov card, he’ll face former world champion Regis Prograis in front of a cheering Tottenham Hotspur crowd. However, before ‘The Destroyer’ starts the new chapter of his professional life, Eddie Hearn’s update might have ruined his plans.

According to Benn’s former promoter, Prograis is badly injured, and he believes the American shouldn’t be in the ring.
“Regis Prograis shouldn’t even be in the ring because he’s that badly injured,” Hearn told IFL TV earlier today. “Everybody knows about Regis Prograis. I’m not gonna discredit Regis Prograis or the fight. Everyone knows the situation.”
Well, as the English promoter pointed towards possible jeopardy on April 11, there haven’t been any updates from Prograis’ camp suggesting he is badly injured. On the contrary, the former world champion appeared on social media before Hearn’s claims and assured everyone that he’s definitely not out of the Conor Benn fight.
“Listen, it’s not true. I’m still fighting,” Prograis said on Instagram. “Don’t believe I’m pulling out of the fight. No, that’s not happening. I’m definitely coming to fight. Conor, don’t think you’re getting off easy. I’m coming for your ass, bro. I’ll be out there next week. The fight is still on. I don’t know what people are talking about with the fight not happening. Listen, that’s all bull***t, you heard it from me.”
Though the former champ has reassured his fan base that he’s perfectly alright, he does have a past with grueling injuries. The most recent instance that comes to mind is when the American suffered a pretty nasty shoulder injury last year, which forced him to withdraw against Oscar Duarte. After that, fans remained skeptical about his full recovery. Yet, Prograis comfortably cruised in his last fight against Joseph Diaz to get a unanimous decision win.

So, as we’re less than 10 days away from seeing the 37-year-old back in the ring, we’ll soon find out whether he’s actually dealing with an injury or not. But ahead of his fight vs Conor Benn, Prograis shared another update on performing at a bigger weight class.
Regaris Prograis thinks Conor Benn would struggle to make catchweight
The Louisiana native has mostly performed in the super-lightweight division and won titles at that weight class. For the Conor Benn fight, Regis Prograis will make a couple of pounds jump to reach the 150 lbs catchweight. In that case, the former world champ is confident he’ll make the cut easily, but he’s not so sure about his opponent.
“It’s definitely a blessing. I can lift. I can eat as much as I want and I don’t have to worry about a weight cut,” Prograis said on The Stomping Ground podcast. “I’m not going to worry about weighing in or stuff like that. It should be super simple, super smooth for me. And he might have trouble doing it. I think he should definitely make the weight, but historically, when people go down, they have trouble,” he added.
Well, as Prograis expects Benn to struggle during the weight cut, the English boxer doesn’t really have a history of issues on the scale. ‘The Destroyer’ has been consistent with making weight, showing proper professionalism. However, Benn’s last opponent, Chris Eubank Jr., was fined £375k ($496,000) for slightly missing weight.
That said, what do you think about the Prograis vs Benn clash? Is it actually in jeopardy? Let us know in the comments section below.
