In the world of sports, rivalries can fuel some of the most heated and entertaining moments for fans. From Ali vs. Frazier to Federer vs. Nadal, the battles between two great competitors can capture the imagination of fans around the world. But what happens when the competition moves off the field and onto social media?
Recently, two of the biggest names in combat sports, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor, crossed paths again on social media. Mayweather posted a photo of himself surrounded by hundreds of bottles of alcohol, boasting of his wealth and status. But it was McGregor’s response that stole the show, taking the spotlight from Mayweather with a clever and unexpected move.

McGregor steals Mayweather’s spotlight with a single comment
Mayweather had recently posted a photo of himself standing in front of hundreds of bottles of alcohol, with his hands spread wide, and a caption that read “They always said I bought the most bottles but don’t drink. #dubai.”

McGregor quickly responded in the comments, with a simple yet powerful statement. “Zoom in, @properwhiskey and @forgedirishstout is at the top,” McGregor wrote. Fans of both fighters were quick to jump in with their own reactions. A user named Magician Sean Watson wrote, “I’ll help you make all those bottles disappear.”
A user by the name Jacob.took.your.mom mocked Mayweather’s spending habits by saying, “This is what you spend your money on lmaooo.” Another user named Heribertodominicaguila offered to take some of the bottles off of Mayweather’s hands, writing, “Give to me FLOYD! I WILL DO IT 4 YOU BRO, THANKYOU VERY MUCH CHAMP.”
A user named Brock Landers took Mayweather’s side, writing, “This is why always gonna be the champ.” Meanwhile, Clyde844 simply acknowledged McGregor’s pursuit of happiness with, “You are doing what makes you happy 😮.”
Mayweather’s Instagram post was clearly meant to show off his wealth and extravagant lifestyle. However, it seems that Conor McGregor had other plans. Instead of trying to one-up Mayweather’s showboating, the Irish MMA fighter responded with a subtle yet effective comment that stole the spotlight.

McGregor’s comment, “Zoom in, @properwhiskey and @forgedirishstout is at the top,” was a reference to his own brand of whiskey and stout. This move effectively upstaged Mayweather’s showboating and turned the attention back to McGregor and his own brand of alcohol.
