Devin Haney isn’t willing to sit quietly as the public criticizes his every move. The former undisputed lightweight champion is coming off a lackluster showing against Jose Ramirez last week in New York. Despite putting together a track meet of a boxing match, ‘The Dream’ secured a unanimous decision win. After the win and a whole lot of criticism from fans and experts, the 26-year-old celebrated his latest victory by gifting himself a pair of glitzy new watches reportedly worth $1 million.
According to a post from WorldStar, Haney bought “a fully diamond-paved Rolex GMT-Master and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, both factory watches featuring baguette-cut gemstones in the dials.” ‘Benny The Jeweler’ also confirmed that he had sold the pair of luxury watches to Devin Haney by posting a clip on Instagram, noting, “Another 7 figure day… two watches added to the collection frosted rainbow ap factory rose gold gmt2 saru factory.” The clip later started circulating on X, where it faced severe criticism from fans.
One user reacted to the clip, writing, “Oh wow, a fighter showing off jewelry…groundbreaking!! Are we still supposed to be impressed by this?” The user called Haney a mid-tier fighter who shows off jewelry and cars on social media, adding, “It’s so corny. Here’s an idea – how about impressing us inside the ring!”

This quickly caught Haney’s attention, who promptly made his feelings clear. “Mid tier or not.. that’s your personal opinion,” he wrote on X. “But let’s look at accomplishments. I’ve accomplished what your favorite fighter accomplished, if not more. At the age of 26.” He then proceeded to criticize the user for their remark.

“First, you had something to say bout me having security, now it’s about me purchasing jewelry with my hard-earned money I took punches for,” Haney wrote. This reaction from Haney quickly met with support from Haney’s father, Bill Haney, who wrote, “Blessed beyond belief 🤲🏽🚀 Let ‘em hate 😁💪🏽.”
While a lot of people aren’t happy about Devin Haney’s last performance in New York, he also seems to have earned a few supporters from the same fight.

Derek Chisora predicts Devin Haney will become undisputed again
Derek Chisora believes Devin Haney is destined to reclaim undisputed glory. The British heavyweight was ringside in Times Square to witness Haney’s dominant, unanimous decision win over Jose Ramirez, marking his return after a year-long layoff. While many criticized the fight for its lack of action, Chisora, a long-time friend of the Haneys, saw brilliance in Haney’s performance.

“That’s what you call boxing,” Chisora told The Ring. “If he boxes like that, he’s gonna be undisputed again.” Haney fought Ramirez at 144 pounds and appears to be preparing for a move to welterweight. Though a rematch with Ryan Garcia was in the works, Garcia’s loss to Rolando Romero has left Haney exploring new options.

Regardless of who’s next, Chisora is confident in Haney’s trajectory. “He’s just gonna get better and better and better now,” he added.
That said, Devin Haney doesn’t seem to have any remorse about the performance he put forward on Friday night. However, the larger boxing community remains at odds with him. What did you make of his fight? What do you think about his new watches?
