While interacting with the media, Canelo admitted the fact that this fight is personal for him, as he knew Golovkin’s reality.

So when his promoter asked Canelo to reflect on the two faced personality of Golovkin, he said this of Golovkin, “He’s two different people. He pretends to be a nice guy, but he’s no. He’s an a**h*** that’s what he is. He pretends to be a nice guy and oh yes ‘I’m just looking for the fame happy and then but another place he’d talk a lot of s***. That’s it is what it is. Just be a man and say what you say.”

However, during a media event, Golovkin remained silent on this. But post-press conference, when Fight hub asked Golovkin about this, he mentioned Canelo has changed and his behavior was different from what it was towards him in the past.

He told, “Well about things that he’s saying about the words that he’s choosing and his behavior yeah.”

After colliding twice in the years 2017 and 2018, Canelo made the lead on Golovkin. However, Golovkin did not accept this. According to him, he was the winner of both contests and kept on demanding one more fight with Canelo before retirement.
